Hi, I’m Aidan living in Nelson, New Zealand. This blog is mainly about my adventures in home brewing. I orignally had intentions of blogging about gardening too, hence the name, but the home brewing took over.
I started home brewing in late 2011. My first 2 brews were straight up kit brews and I was quite impressed at how they turned out. Then I started playing with hops and grains and became totally fascinated with making beer.
These days I mostly do partial mash brewing. With the partial mash process I can brew great beer on my kitcken stovetop with minimal equipment. I’ve also done a few small all-grain batches on the stovetop but the downside is that it’s a lot of work for a small batch of beer. I’m in the process of getting some equipment together to enable me to do full size all-grain BIAB (brew in a bag) batches but as I’m happy with the results of partial mash, I’m not in any hurry.

i have only just discovered your site and have not yet read much… but i am most impressed and i appreciate your interests!
i recently started home brewing myself and a couple of years ago i bought a house and dramatically landscaped the gardens and planted a variety of spectacular plants. i am yet to buy a hop plant though!
my only disappointment is that it your site is not “beerandgardenand fishing”
;o)
look forward to some good reading.
good work!
